The Telangana government has entered into a major $7 billion partnership with Amazon Web Services (AWS) to scale cloud computing and artificial intelligence infrastructure in the state, marking one of India’s largest-ever technology investments. The agreement is set to reinforce Telangana’s standing as a leading destination for data centres, advanced computing, and digital innovation.
As part of the pact, AWS will invest in building large-scale, AI-ready cloud and data centre infrastructure to meet the rapidly growing demand from enterprises, startups, and public sector organizations. The investment is expected to generate thousands of direct and indirect employment opportunities across construction, data centre operations, engineering, and technology services.
State officials said the collaboration aligns closely with Telangana’s vision to emerge as a national and global leader in AI, cloud services, and digital public infrastructure. Beyond infrastructure, the partnership will focus on skill development, startup enablement, and innovation-led growth, providing local talent and entrepreneurs access to world-class cloud and AI platforms.
For AWS, the agreement deepens its presence in India, one of the company’s fastest-growing markets, driven by accelerating digital transformation, enterprise cloud adoption, and regulatory emphasis on data localization.
The deal also reflects India’s broader strategy to attract hyperscale investments while building secure, scalable, and sovereign digital infrastructure. With this landmark partnership, Telangana positions itself at the forefront of the next phase of AI- and cloud-driven economic growth, strengthening its role in the global technology ecosystem.
