Over 1.11 Crore New Jan Dhan Accounts Opened in 4-Month Financial Inclusion Campaign

A nationwide financial inclusion drive in India successfully enrolled over 1.11 crore new accounts under the Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana (PMJDY) during a four-month-long campaign ending October 31, 2025. This campaign, announced by the Finance Ministry, aimed to bring every eligible citizen into the formal financial ecosystem through key government schemes.

Alongside the Jan Dhan accounts, the campaign facilitated significant enrollment in government-backed social security programs, including 2.86 crore new Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana (PMSBY) insurance policies, 1.40 crore Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana (PMJJBY) life insurance enrollments, and 44.43 lakh fresh subscribers to the Atal Pension Yojana (APY).

More than 2.67 lakh camps were organized nationwide across villages and towns to support account openings, account re-KYC verification for inactive accounts, nomination updates, and financial literacy efforts emphasizing digital fraud prevention, unclaimed deposits, and grievance redressal.

The campaign marks a substantial stride in India’s ongoing push for financial inclusion, particularly among rural and semi-urban populations where over two-thirds of accounts are held. Female account holders constitute more than half the total, reflecting progress in gender-inclusive banking.

Since its launch in 2014, PMJDY has opened over 56 crore accounts, revolutionizing access to basic banking, credit, insurance, and pension facilities at zero balance. The campaign reinforces the government’s commitment to deepening and broadening financial services to underserved demographics.

By fostering digital payments and integrating beneficiaries with welfare schemes, PMJDY continues to underpin India’s economic empowerment and inclusive growth initiatives at the grassroots level.
