Prime Minister Narendra Modi unveiled a special ₹100 commemorative coin and postage stamp on October 1, 2025, to mark the centenary celebrations of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS). The historic coin, released at Delhi’s Ambedkar International Centre, features the first-ever depiction of Bharat Mata on Indian currency, making it a moment of great pride and national significance.
The ₹100 coin displays the national emblem on one side, while the other side showcases Bharat Mata in the Varad Mudra pose—a hand gesture symbolizing blessings. The image also includes a lion and three RSS swayamsevaks bowing to Bharat Mata in dedication. This representation highlights the RSS’s commitment to the nation and its cultural ethos.
Prime Minister Modi described the coin as embodying timeless national consciousness, emphasizing that the Sangh’s contribution will be crucial in India’s development journey towards 2047. The coin also bears the Sangh’s guiding motto: “Rashtraya Swaha, Idam Rashtraya, Idam Na Mama,” which means, “Everything is dedicated to the nation, everything belongs to the nation, nothing is mine.”
Alongside the coin, a postage stamp was also released, featuring RSS swayamsevaks’ participation in the 1963 Republic Day Parade, underlining the organization’s long-standing contribution to the country.
The centenary celebrations were organized by the Ministry of Culture and attended by RSS leaders and government officials. The event marks a significant milestone in commemorating 100 years of the Sangh’s nation-building and social service activities.
The move, while widely celebrated for its patriotic symbolism, has also sparked debates in the political arena. Some opposition parties have raised concerns about the depiction reflecting a sectarian agenda. Nonetheless, the coin stands as a historic tribute to Bharat Mata and the RSS’s century-long journey of dedication and service to India.
